This project was created on a short holiday to the north west of Denmark utilising coloured flash photography and a unique blend of mysterious, simple and somehow familiar scenes. The series features digital photographs taken using colored flash photography to construct a world where the viewer is confined to the limits of the light. The use of the flash defines the extent of the
world, giving rise to the project’s name. The resulting images present an instant parallel universe, offering a fleeting glimpse into a realm that exists between wakefulness and sleep. The scenes are unsettling yet oddly familiar, evoking a sense of urgency as the flash captures the brief moment before the environment is engulfed in darkness once more. The collection of these
images forms a map of a dream world, inviting exploration and discovery. The use of transparent red filters, fast shutter speed, composition, and spontaneity contributes to the creation of effortlessly strange scenes that materialize before the flash. The absence of post-processing in the images serves to preserve the authenticity of the instant shot, transforming it into a hazy, distant memory.
